With cool temperatures expected to fall through and get on it, it’s about that time for an appropriate wardrobe to welcome fall weather. There’s tons of fun fashion trends to get familiar with for fall approaching, but here’s a few for those who have their taste on the tomboy side. Take a look at trends that took me by the heart, and will soon take me by my wallet.
“What is that..VELVET?!”
This textured trend made it’s way back on the trend cycle for another fall. Velvet pieces give your outfit a warm and cozy appeal to it. It can spice up a look for everyday and is even perfect for holiday. I’m looking forward to finding cute slip-on sneakers dipped in velvet to kick it in. I also plan on dusting off this cold shoulder velvet turtleneck I found at Zara last year.
Wax it all on Mr. Myagi style with the new wave of wax coated denim in fall 2017. Coming to you in all different colors, you can have just about whatever flavor of jeans you want.
I found these Photo Ready J Brand jeans surprisingly super soft and stretchy. They happen to flatter my figure too.
I’ll definitely be pulling out my G-Star overalls again for the millionth time. They haven’t let me down yet.
Okay, so I have a confession to make. Although, I’m true to my Tomboy steez, I HATE SUITS!!! I happen to think I look like a hot ass mess in them. They can be fitted to a T and I still think I look frumpy and boring, I never feel stylish in them. BUT then came the modern suiting trend. A tailored twist on a classic look, modern suiting is sure to give YOU the business, ahkay?! This fall were seeing funky, fashionable prints and jackets with a sharp look and fit. It’s all about that juxtapostion of feminine and masculine, aka being the quintessential tomboy!
Veronica Beard is a brand that knows how to make sportswear a perfect combination of classic and cool. Their jackets are so dope.
Check out this FRAME blazer that combines the Velvet and Modern Suiting trend in one. I paired it with their silk shawl collar blouse, their Raw Stagger Le Skinny De Jeane in white and Brunello Cucinelli monili trim mule slides.
This chick loves her kicks and I couldn’t be happier that runners are a big trend this season. With fashion taking a big focus on athleisure lately, runners are showing up everywhere and in every way. I’m still waiting to get my hands on a pair of Balenciaga Race Runners or even Valentino runners with camo print that’s to die for. I’m completely head over heels for these Chanel’s at the moment. So comfortable, super chic.
Get big and bold with red this season, a perfect color for fall reminiscent of the colorful leaves coming soon. You can get spicy with a hot chili red or layer on berry-like shades. Personally, red isn’t my color but I like to accent my look with red.
In this look I used my Stella McCartney iPhone purse case, nails painted with Giorgio Armani nail lacquer in color 400, and MAC’s fan favorite Ruby Woo lipstick to try to stay trendy in a way that still stayed true to myself.
Fishnet tights are making a big comeback and taking over street style for the season. You’re sure to see them under a slip dress or short mini skirt and even in ways you never thought of before. Try wearing them high waist under a pair of boyfriend jeans with a crop top or pair them with a pair of distressed jeans for an edgy approach to your denim. I happen to like the way fishnet socks look with certain sneakers, it’s a great way to turn attention to your feets.
Plaid is one of the season’s most versatile trends and one that’s almost never out of style in fall. It’s a classic trend but it doesn’t have to be so typical. I put plaid with everything whether it’s my oversized plaid button ups with graphic tees or a plaid skater skirt to make my work outfits a little edgy. Check out how Isabel Marant perfects plaid with her Etoile line. This Pisa asymmetrical checked midi dress is so dope. Try layering it with blouse with romantic sleeves underneath or even a basic dolman sleeve sweater. This look would’ve been worked with a pair of my slip-on platform suede sneakers for tomboy flare but I had these black boots handy.
